Chinese New Year is just around the corner. Cue the festive music! Chinese New Year signals the beginning of spring and the start of a new year according to the lunar calendar.
The Chinese community celebrates it with various activities and traditions like lion dances, reunion dinners, and giving/receiving red packets. So, we would like to know how do you and your loved ones celebrate Chinese New Year? What is your most special memory of this celebration?

Requirements

Content submitted can be in article or video format, and must revolve around Chinese New Year.

Content submitted can either be in English, Bahasa Melayu or Mandarin.

Your content submission must include the #CNY2023 / #2023农历新年 hashtag in the title. Submissions without the hashtag will not be counted as an entry for this campaign.

Article submission must be at least 300 words and contain at least 1 image or 1 video.

Video submission must be at least 60 seconds in duration with a minimum of 100 words description.

Content must be unique and not plagiarized. Content submitted is to be exclusive to Newswav and not shared with other media outlets/publishers.

Participants must share the published content in the form of Newswav link (e.g. newswav.com/xxx) on their social media platform(s) during the campaign period.

NEWSWAV TOP PICKS x20
Up to twenty (20) best-produced content will be selected by Newswav at the end of the campaign period, where winners will receive RM288 ang pow each.
BEST VIDEO CONTENT x3
Up to three (3) videos with the highest number of engagements by the end of the campaign period will receive RM188 ang pow each.
*Engagement refers to genuine reactions, shares, and comments on Newswav.
NOTE: Each participant could win more than 1 prize
(e.g. Individual A could win the Newswav Top Picks and Top Engagement Prize)
The winners of the #CNY2023 will be announced on February 13, 2023.
Winners will be contacted via email so do ensure that you provide us with the correct contact details (including payment info) upon account registration.
Terms & Conditions
CONTEST PERIOD
1. The #CNY2023 / #2023农历新年 (the “Contest”) is organised by Newswav Sdn. Bhd (“the Organiser”).
2. The Contest will commence from January 3, 2023 (Tue, 12pm) - January 27, 2023 (Fri, 12pm) (both dates inclusive) (the “Contest Period”).
3. However, the submission period will start from January 3, 2023 (Tue, 12pm) - January 20, 2023 (Fri, 12pm) (both dates inclusive) (the “Submission Period”).
CONTEST ELIGIBILITY
4. The Contest is open to all Malaysians (the “Participants") that fall under the following category:
i) Newswav users
ii) Aged 18 and above residing in Malaysia
CONTENT SUBMISSION & REQUIREMENTS
5. The Submission Period starts from January 3, 2023 at 12:00pm MYT until January 20, 2023 at 12:00pm MYT.
6. Content submitted can be in article or video format (the “Contest Content”), and must revolve around Chinese New Year. The Organiser reserves the right to reject any submissions that are non-relevant or forcefully related to the theme.
7. Content submitted can either be in English, Malay or Mandarin.
8. Your content submission must include the #CNY2023 or #2023农历新年 hashtag in the title. Submissions without the hashtag will not be counted as an entry for this campaign.
9. Article submission must be at least 300 words and contain at least 1 image or 1 video.

WINNER SELECTION
13. NEWSWAV TOP PICKS x20: Up to twenty(20) best-produced content will be selected by Newswav at the end of the campaign period, where winners will receive RM288 each.
14. Best Video Content x3 : Up to three (3) videos with the highest number of engagements by the end of the campaign period will receive RM188 ang pow each.
a) Engagement refers to genuine reactions, shares, and comments on Newswav.
b) The Organiser reserves the right to remove any duplicated, non-genuine, malicious or spam reactions, shares, and comments when tabulating the winner list.
15. Each participant could win more than One (1) prize (e.g. Individual A could win the Newswav Top Picks and Best Video Content).
16. Winners shall be solely determined by the Organiser, whose decision shall be deemed final. No correspondence or appeal(s) will be entertained.
WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT & PRIZES REDEMPTION
17. Winner announcements will be made on February 13, 2023 via email to all participants.
18. Participants who fail to reply to the email within seven (7) days will have their prize forfeited.
19. Winners must provide a copy of their NRIC for verification purposes. Failure to do so may result in their prizes being revoked.
20. Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or refundable in any way.
GENERAL
21. All costs and expenses in connection with the production of the Contest Content and the participation of this Contest shall be fully borne by the Participants.
22. Contest Content must not be vague, illegal, or unlawful, lewd, obscene, sexually explicit, pornographic, disparaging, defamatory, libelous, offensive, must not infringe any third party’s legal rights, and must not be capable of giving rise to legal action whether against you or the Organiser or a third party (in each case under any applicable law). User Content must be researched beforehand and to be of truth.
23. The Organiser reserves the right to reject, edit or remove any of the Participants’ content at the discretion of the Organiser, at any time.
24. By submitting the Contest Content, The Organiser has the rights to use the entries or material submitted for library, promotional, or commercial use globally.
DECLARATION & AUTHORISATION
25. The Organiser reserves the right at its absolute discretion to postpone, reschedule and/or extend the Campaign Period and/or terminate the Contest at any given time without prior notice.
26. The Organiser reserves the right to amend the mechanics, prizes, and terms & conditions of the Contest, as well as other aspects of the Contest at its absolute discretion without prior notice.
27. By participating in this Contest, the Participants are deemed to have read and understood and have agreed to comply with all terms and conditions (“Terms and Conditions”) set forth in this section (as varied or changed).
